Conflict With In The Team!!!

Review Date: 19/09/04

Conflict: Vietnam follows the progress of four US soldiers, Ragman, Junior, Hoss and Cherry, cut off from their unit during the 1968 Tet Offensive and tasked with fighting their way back to friendly lines. A third person shooter where the player takes full control of all four squad members, Conflict: Vietnam does not set out to depict the course of the war; instead we witness four men struggling for survival in the hostile Vietnam jungle against a ruthless terrain and seemingly ever-present ‘invisible’ enemy.

Not only the locations have been changed from the desert to the jungle but with better graphics too, which looks very good. It has some pretty good levels which some of them you get to use jeeps, tanks and also the guns on the boat and helicopter but you do not get to drive or fly in these 2.

The sound and music is loud and it feels just right with the music for vietnam. Like with a lot of games lately you now have a seconds button to thorough grenades.

Now onto the part where it lets down the game, The controls which i think is 1 of the main things they should of changed. The enemies are always attacking with is the problem because it takes so long to use items and order team to the right places. Say for e.g. medic pack: you have to hold the triangle button down and scroll down to the medic pack to use it, maybe also heal some of the team and then you will have to scroll back up the your gun all in the time of getting attacked(which gets so annoying). If the developer really looked at this they would of done something like the Freedom fighters game where with 1 button you can heal, order team about or change guns why all your in a big battle.

The AI which is supposable been improved is very bad at best, say if you where to bump into your team mates they would most of the time will start moving straight into the enemies and when following you they run straight though a trap where you went around it.

So this is not the best team action game to get unless your a big fan of the others. Although co-op mode is a bit more fun to play, so it maybe best to stick with Freedom Fighters or get one of the Ghost Recon games.

Graphics, The jungle looks very good, nice explosions and ok people.

Sound/Music, Great sounds and some good music.
Controls, All most the same as the last ones. Takes to long to do stuff when under attack.
Gameplay, More fast past butt too difficult with the control setup.
Replay Value, Co-op mode and harder difficultly's.
